Countdown to race start

It’s a world that will far exceed the predicted 10% of electricity generated by wind by 2020. A world populated by far more than the 59,000 turbines we’ve already installed on behalf of customers in more than 75 countries across six continents.

At Vestas, we believe the energy future belongs to sustainable energy sources, as renewable energies led by wind are already competitive on purely economic grounds in many markets.

Our vision is to be the global leader in sustainable energy solutions, and together with our partners, 11th Hour Racing, and our team, we aim to tackle the challenges face by this, our fragile planet, and promote a cleaner tomorrow.

Racing to a sustainable future

There is only one global ocean – a mesmerizing playing field that inspires every sailor’s dreams.

At 11th Hour Racing, we harness the power of sport to increase our understanding of the marine environments, find innovative solutions to the issues that impact these resources, and promote stewardship of the seas – one degree at a time.

We engage the most natural advocates for the health of our ocean: the sailing community and the maritime industries. Through the powerful partnership with Vestas, our team is leading the race towards an even more sustainable future.

Skilled and experienced sailors

Three years ago, led by Charlie Enright and Mark Towill, 55 South set out to compete in the 2014–15 Volvo Ocean Race. They achieved their goal and became one of the youngest teams ever to complete the course, winning two in-port races as well as the challenging final leg into Gothenberg, Sweden.

Having exceeded expectations at every turn, the guys are ready to take on the 2017 – 18 edition with Vestas and 11th Hour Racing. For both Charlie and Mark, success is excellence on the water combined with excellent ROI for our partners. They have the energy, the skills and the fresh ideas to achieve exemplary results in sport and sustainability.
